The world has had almost four decades since the early 1970s to address the problem of energy consumption and pollution including CO2 emissions.
Nothing has been done because those in power are influenced by those who have the money which are the large corporations and financial institutions starting with the energy industry, i.e., oil, and consumers of energy, i.e., internal combustion engine. The Fat Cat bail outs are direct evidence of this orientation.
At that time there was a bust in 1973/4, a quadrupling of the oil price and the publication of "The Limits to Growth" based upon Jay W Forrester's "World Dynamics" first published in 1971.
Nothing meaningful has been done since that time despite what happened in the early 1970s, and we are now seeing the polar ice caps melt while weather extremes are becoming more frequent.
There is a choice today between actually managing down pollution or having nature eclipse the source of pollution by weather extremes.
I believe that, as we have just seen in Cumbria recently by a stalled weather system causing flash flooding from record rainfall, the foundation of nature reacting against pollution in its normal way to rebalance itself will be the ultimate solution with the world's population diminished considerably.
People do not realise that at some point there will be a "critical mass" hit beyond which nothing can be done, a "Point of No Return" to borrow the title of one of Martha Gellhorn's books, and I believe that we are far closer to that point than anyone imagines.
Governments that have allowed the financial and economic greed to flourish during the past three decades for the benefit of the few at the expense of the many are doing the same with the precious climate balance on earth which feeds this greed from carbon usage whose emissions are bringing out its own demise.
That syndrome of greed and corruption brought about the financial and economic meltdown of western capitalism recently. Make no mistake we haven't even begun to see the full impact of this yet. I believe right behind this will be the climate meltdown for the entire planet as nature
rebalances itself.
Consciousness has failed in the process of evolution. Instead of respecting and cherishing the natural world, humankind has exploited it as much as possible. This has been led by the politicians. There are far too many greedy people being allowed to continue at present down a path which will ultimately lead to a meltdown.
I rest my argument upon the fact of my being subjected to intense and totally invasive surveillance technology of the most sophisticated kind indefinitely now for 11.25 years 24/7/365 which has not been stopped by those in authority who claim that this does not exist.
Every effort is made to control and dominate all that I do, to interfere in whatever I do and to seek my ultimate destruction at the expense of the rest of society.
Those in power turn a blind eye to the most damaging human activity ever imagined. If the same people are allowed to carry this surveillance abuse onward including various departments of the UK government, e.g., NHS, police et al, there is no hope that anything meaningful will be done to ensure balanced global pollution for a more stable climate.
It just won't happen at the ground level.
The reason is that this surveillance technology in the hands of the ignorant and greedy as it is now has the capability of destroying all the good efforts of all the decent people in this world.
Give this surveillance technology to the knowledge have-nots and greedy no-hopers, and they will destroy everyone else. That is what is being done, and no one is stopping it. This is quite literally the "Lord of the Flies."
"A fool can throw a stone into the ocean, and a hundred wise men cannot get it back."
